O Alongamento e o Aquecimento Interferem na Resposta Neuromuscular? Uma Revisão de Literatura

Resumo: O alongamento e o aquecimento são comumente utilizados antes de qualquer atividade esportiva, seja ela competitiva ou recreacional. O objetivo do presente estudo foi realizar uma breve revisão da literatura, dos últimos 15 anos, a respeito da influência do alongamento e aquecimento na resposta neuromuscular. Para essa análise foram utilizados periódicos das seguintes bases bibliográficas: Pubmed, Scielo, Isi Web of Knowledge e Lilacs. Os artigos revisados mostram que o aquecimento pode, por meio do aumento da temperatura, promover um aumento na velocidade de contração muscular e potencializar a resposta neuromuscular, enquanto que o alongamento, em curto prazo, parece promover um efeito depressor sobre a resposta neuromuscular. Um melhor entendimento do comportamento neuromuscular após o aquecimento e/ou o alongamento pode auxiliar no desenvolvimento de aplicações mais específicas na prática clínica e esportiva.

Abstract: Stretching and warm-up are commonly used before and after any sports activities, being competitive or recreational. The aim of the present study was to perform a brief review of the literature of the past 15 years concerning the influence of the stretching and warm-up on the neuromuscular response. For this analysis the journals from the following bibliographic databases were used: Pubmed, Scielo, Isi Web of Knowledge and Lilacs. The reviewed articles showed that the warming-up can, by the means of increased temperature, promote an increase in the velocity of muscle contraction and potentiate the neuromuscular response, while short-term stretching, promote a depressor effect on the neuromuscular response. A better understanding of the neuromuscular behavior following a warm-up and/or stretching protocol may aid to the development of more specific applications in the clinical and sports practice.
