O Tempo dos(para) os Docentes e Pesquisadores numa Perspetiva do Gênero

Resumo: O presente texto debruça-se sobre conceito de tempo, tal como experienciado e perspetivado pelos docentes e pesquisadores. Com base na análise de informação obtida através do cruzamento de várias técnicas de pesquisa, o texto apresenta os principais modos de entendimento do tempo por parte dos docentes e pesquisadores, considerando a defi nição e descrição do tempo, a pressão institucional para o uso cada vez mais intensivo de tecnologias de informação e comunicação e, fi nalmente, a apreciação que fazem dos tempos institucionais e dos seus constrangimentos sobre os tempos individuais. Na base da literatura sobre os usos e percepções do tempo na academia e dando particular atenção às diferenças de gênero, o texto mostra que as mulheres acadêmicas e investigadoras apresentam mais difi culdades de organização do tempo do que os colegas homens, fi cando evidenciado o constrangimento exercido pelas temporalidades macroglobais que atravessam os universos do ensino superior e da investigação e que se traduzem na implantação do capitalismo acadêmico. As conclusões apresentadas permitem discorrer sobre as suas implicações para a afi rmação de políticas de gênero na academia que abarquem o debate sobre uma política de tempos.

Abstract: This paper focus on the concept of time, as experienced and understood by teachers and researchers. Based on the analysis of information obtained by crossing several research techniques, the text presents the main ways by which teachers and researchers understand time. The analysis is developed taking into consideration the following dimensions: defi nition and the description of the time, the institutional pressure to use more and more intensive information and communication technologies and, ultimately, the evaluation they make about how institutional times constraint individual times. On the basis of the literature on the uses and perceptions of time in academia and giving particular attention to gender differences, the text shows that female academics and researchers have more diffi culties to organize time than men colleagues, as a result for the constraint exercised by macroglobal temporal regimes that cross the worlds of higher education and research and which are translated in the implantation of academic capitalism. The fi ndings presented allow us to discuss its implications for the affi rmation of gender policies in the academy which may cover the debate about a time policy.
