Resumo: O trabalho traz, na sistemática legal vigente, um criterioso estudo sobre a responsabilidade civil das instituições financeiras e o processo de sua apuração pela via da liquidação extrajudicial. É feita uma análise histórica da matéria, e uma passagem pela legislação de vários países. Apresenta-se o histórico legislativo do tema, a visão doutrinária e jurisprudencial a respeito. Tudo sem deixar de trazer conceituação e análise da natureza do instituto da responsabilidade civil das instituições financeiras.

Abstract: This work brings a study on the liability of financial institutions and the process of its ascertainment by means of extrajudicial liquidation in the legal system in force. A historic analysis of the subject, and also of the legislation of various countries will be made. One will show the legislative history of the theme and the view of the doctrine and of the jurisprudence on the matter. This will be made bringing the conceptualization and analysis of the nature of the institute of civil liability of financial institutions.
